Although it is rather rare, some payors require that the Rendering Provider ID field (24J) be populated on a CMS 1500 Claim form.
To populate the Rendering Provider field (24J):
- Click on Persons & Institutions | Insurance Companies
- Select an Insurance Company and click on the Provider Information sub tab
- Double click the "Legacy ID" field next to the appropriate provider ID.
- Enter the provider ID in the "Legacy ID" field.
