Topaz SigPlus Installation for Word

Follow this guide for installing what is needed for Word Template Users who are using Topaz signature pads to capture multiple signers. Word 2016 or newer is required for this process. 

Download and Install the plug-ins for Microsoft Word:

  1. Download and run the following file: Topaz Office Plugin 
  2. Click next on welcome screen
  3. Click Agree
  4. Click finish to complete installation 

Verify correct install: 

  1. Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\STARTUP (exact path may differ depending on MS Office version) 
  2. Verify that the the file ‘topazsig3.dot’ is present

If the file is not there, follow these steps: 

  1. Go to C:\Windows\SigPlus\Tools\MSOfficePlugins\Word and copy topazsig3.dot file 
  2. Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\STARTUP 
  3. Paste the topazsig3.dot file into this folder 

Download and Install the SigPlus software: 

Prior to running the below link, unplug your pad from your computer 

  1. Download this file: SigPlus
  2. Run it as administrator 
  3. You will need to identify your Topaz device by the model number so you can select it during installation 
  4. When installation is finished, plug your pad back into your computer

To enable signing using Word: 

  1. Left click File (upper left hand corner) 
  2. Left click Options (lower right hand corner) 
  3. Left click Trust center (lower left hand corner) 
  4. Left click trust center settings (lower right hand corner) 
  5. Under Macro settings and put a dot next to ‘disable all macros except digitally signed macros’ 
  6. Left click trusted locations (upper left hand corner) 
  7. Left click Add new location (lower right hand corner 
  8. Left click browse to the following location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\STARTUP 
  9. Click ‘OK’ all the way until you are back on your word document 
  10. Restart Microsoft Word to make sure changes take effect

To sign in Word: 

  1. Open a word document 
  2. Click the mouse on the document where you want to sign 
  3. Click Add-ins 
  4. Click the pencil to bring up the sign document window 
  5. Sign on your signature pad 
  6. Click done to add your signature to the document
